![]() ![]() ![]() This took ages because I kept nudging the pavement and my lap did not validate. Booting it up for the first time and I had to race around a track. This is simply because the game makes no attempt to teach you anything at any point in the game. I took issue with how tough Ride 4 is and don’t get me wrong, this is not because I am bad at these sort of games. I began to read when one of them was going to act in a certain way and I prepare for it. This means that while I was juggling every other darn realistic mechanic in the game, the AI also popped in to get in the way and make their presence clear. This further adds to the sheer challenge in Ride 4 as while the AI are avoidable in a standalone race, much of the campaign sees them get in the way during those races. I don’t watch motorsport much but every time the AI showed off their skill or reacted to the way I raced, it kind of felt like a natural way of doing things. So while I was trying to turn the corner with the utmost care, the predictable AI would often ruin my day and get in the way. I also had to keep in mind that while Ride 4 tries to keep the realism at the forefront, the game also includes some rather impressive AI that often gets in the way while trying to race. Ride 4 manages to capture the thrill of the motorsport and feels great to play. You either love it, or you hate it.There’s a lot to love here if you enjoy this sort of game and all the micromanaging that comes with it. I bought it on special a year after release, and then paid full price when ride 4 released. Ride 3 should be marked down right now and can be picked up quite cheap. If like that game and can except the difficulty, you will enjoy Ride 4 as it is much better structured, and this was the biggest changes for me. Should you be wondering if you must try the game, check out ride 3 first. ![]() It is even at times too difficult for my liking. It takes time and some commitment, that only the few hardcore racing fans might appreciate. But due to the steep learning curve of bike control, it is not something you can just jump into and enjoy. Should the have been a difficulty setting for more than just AI, it would have been a yes. But I can not recommend it to casual players, especially not with the time trials, time attack and penalties at the moment. Other than that, I can recomend this game to fan of the series, it is the best in the franchise to date. Hopefully this will be fixed with a future update. They feel like mindless numbs noticing everything on track except you, the player. The biggest drawback for the game is the AI, which is used as a selling tool, but is even worse than Ride 3 in my opinion. Those who will still support the game long after it has been released. I strongly believe that this difficulty is what the fan base wants, and I am referring to the more hardcore sim racing fans out there. I hope it is not just a tool to promote optional credit multiplier to the casual market. I however can not fault the game in this, if this is what the developers intended, then so be it. Although I also honestly believe this is the games biggest down fall which makes it un accessible for the casual players. It gives a sense of reward when you finally achieve gold. Ride 4, same as Ride 3, have some races that just don’t feel possible at times, it can be hard as nails, and I do believe this is intensional. It does not offer more than just racing, but then again most racing games are like that, but at least they are accessible for the most. Does this mean everyone will enjoy the game, I am afraid not. So I like the game, but then again, I am a racing fanatic. But better, most definitely, the bikes control better, the environment looks better, the weather looks great and the tyre wear is more than welcome in my books. Where the more comes in, I can not really say. Non the less, in that sense it is not more, but I can live with that as the bikes do look stunning. Which was a good thing in my opinion, but I liked some of those features, like being able to change your grips and mirrors. They striped away some features like upgrade options to the bikes, but added more to the rider outfit customization. If you liked Ride 3, you will love Ride 4, and that is basically it. It most definitely is not a copy and paste, but a reworked and restructure of the old game, which is both a good and bad thing. Is it? Yes, it is, but the problems remains the same as in Ride3. Then Ride 4 was announced and I was excited as it promised to be bigger and better in every way. I was hooked and instantly Became a fan if the franchise. Then Ride 3 came as a surprise to me when I first played it a year after release. Ride 3 came as a surprise to me when I first played it a year after release.
